| The Forest Products Laboratory The Forest Products Laboratory (FPL)
in Madison, Wisconsin, serves the public as the nation's leading wood research institute.
Research concentrates on pulp and paper products, housing and structural uses of wood,
wood preservation, wood and fungi identification, and finishing and restoration of wood
products. In addition to traditional lines of research, FPL is responding to environmental
pressures on the forest resource by using cutting-edge techniques to study recycling,
develop environmentally friendly technology, and understand ecosystem-based forest
management.
The Forest Products Society
Since 1947 the Forest
Products Society has been a world leader in technical information transfer to further the
socially beneficial use of wood and fiber resources. The Forest Products Society also acts
as the distributor for the technical publications of the American Wood Council which
constitute an invaluable information resource on wood construction for engineers,
architects, builders, and building code regulators, including engineering data,
state-of-the art design technologies, and construction standards.
The Western Red Cedar Lumber Association
(WRCLA)
The Western Red Cedar
Lumber Association is a Vancouver based non profit trade association representing 18
quality producers of Western Red Cedar lumber products in Washington, Oregon and British
Columbia. Founded in 1954 and known as "the voice of the cedar industry"-the
WRCLA operates customer service programs throughout the United States and Canada to
support its members' cedar products with information, education and quality standards. |
