It has greater natural durability than Western Red Cedar and Redwood in resistance to
decay, termites and other insects, marring and denting. It is harder and more dense and
finishes to a smoother satin-like surface free of splinters. And it is completely
nontoxic, thus perfectly safe for children ... and handling. Pacific Coast Cypress works as easily as other softwoods
and its fine grain takes stain, paint and preservative finishes. It has a low shrinkage
factor and leaves no toxic waste to guard against or to dispose of. Unlike treated wood,
Pacific Coast Cypress retains its decay and insect resistance when sawn and is suitable
for either decking or porch flooring where appearance as well as durability is important.
